As a mentor, your calendar is available for mentees to schedule appointments with you. However, we understand that you’re busy, which is why you have the option to allocate only specific slots for this activity. Rest assured, the time you invest will always be under your control and dedicated to meaningful interactions.

Mentees approach us with a range of expectations, which they’re encouraged to share when reaching out to you. Our main expectation is that you engage in open communication and show empathy when discussing what you’re realistically able to commit to.

Our mentees represent a diverse range of backgrounds. Most of them are industry professionals eager to expand their skill sets or contemplating a career shift. While some are dedicated to developing their own products, others contribute to startups or are newcomers to the tech field, coming from more traditional industries.

For the majority of mentors, the financial aspect quickly becomes a secondary concern.

Mentoring at Coffee isn’t just about earning—it’s about giving back in a meaningful way. Every session is an opportunity to change lives, shaping futures through your knowledge and dedication. It’s about leaving a lasting legacy that transcends financial gain.

That being said, the opportunity to earn income while assisting others is a truly rewarding experience! You have the freedom to set your own rates and offer sessions ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours, tailored to suit your schedule and preferences.

Simply put, we prosper when you do! Our approach is straightforward: we don’t take a slice of your earnings. Instead, after you’ve set your price, we add a fee of 20% on top. When you secure your mentees, we then split the payment and the commission. This way, our interests are perfectly aligned with yours—supporting you every step of the way in a partnership that thrives on mutual success.

At Coffee, we strive to add meaning to everything we do. This philosophy was vividly brought to life when I (Aurélien) undertook a personal challenge, running 10 half-marathons in 10 days around Luxembourg to raise over €6500 for Kick Cancer—a dedicated charity aimed at curing all children with cancer. This experience not only inspired me but also underscored our commitment to meaningful action.

In alignment with our mission to provide individuals with concrete keys and actionable tools to empower them in making decisions that lead to an intentional life, we have introduced a charitable component to our platform. This feature allows our experts to donate their earnings from consultations directly to Kick Cancer. When experts opt to support this cause, Coffee will contribute by waiving all service fees. The only costs incurred will be the minimal transaction fees associated with payments. Through this initiative, we not only enrich the lives of our experts and users but also actively support a vital cause, making every consultation a step towards a greater good.

We’ve teamed up with Stripe Connect to ensure a smooth transaction experience for you. Typically, Stripe processes payouts within 7 days after the call.

Let’s break down an example: suppose you charge €100 for a 30-minute call. Here’s how the numbers might look:

  • Amount paid by the mentee: €100
  • Coffee Fee @ 20%: -€20
  • Stripe fee: ~-€2.00
  • Your final payout: €78.00

At Coffee, we apply a platform fee for each transaction made through our website.

We aim to keep things transparent for our mentors, so you’ll always know what to expect in terms of earnings. For instance, if you establish a pricing plan at €100, you can anticipate that amount as your take-home (excluding potential Stripe/bank fees incurred along the way). The variable in this equation is the additional fee we apply.

Presently, our fee structure includes a 20% markup on your charges. Thus, a €100 pricing plan you set will be presented to mentees at €120.

The minimum fee we charge is €20, which means that for calls under €100, the percentage fees could exceed the standard 20% rate.

What can I expect from mentors?

What exactly you can expect during a mentorship highly depends on your mentor and is usually designated on their profile.

What you can and should expect from any mentor:

  • Availability as needed for questions, advice, and guidance.
  • Guidance on working towards your personal goal.
  • Flexibility when it comes to goal changes, help requests, and organization.
  • Actionable coaching, such as help with job interviews, CV checks, and career guidance. 

What you can’t expect from our mentors:

  • Going in-depth in your code, developing new features, or spending hours on debugging. They are guides, not freelancers.
  • A pre-structured curriculum. Mentors will help you personally, not give you lectures that you could also find online. They are happy to point you toward the right resources though.

Mentor prices are prominently displayed, straightforward, and designed to be easily understandable.
